Used to accelerate consolidation of soft compressible soils in embankment construction and infrastructure works.
Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVDs), commonly referred to as wick drains, consist of a synthetic geotextile jacket surrounding a molded plastic core. When installed vertically into low-permeability saturated soft soils, PVDs create artificial drainage paths that drastically shorten pore water discharge distance. Under surcharge loading, consolidation time is reduced from years to months.
